Another Pakistani cricketer has signed a contract ahead of The Hundred League 2026 season. This time it is Pakistan Women’s Cricket Team Captain Fatima Sanawho officially joined the league franchise Birmingham Phoenix.

She won the contract after an impressive all-round performance in the ongoing ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. Against South Africa Women, Sana led the way with 55 not out from 38 balls at No.8 and then took 3 for 16 at Edgbaston.

Fatima Sana will play for Birmingham Phoenix.

However, her efforts were in vain as Pakistan lost to South Africa. Edgbaston is the home ground of Birmingham Phoenix in the Hundred. Fatima Sana joined the England squad via Thursday’s wildcard draft.

The deal made her the first Pakistani player to play in a women’s hundred. Fatima Sana will join the franchise as their fourth overseas recruit following the departure of Australian cricketer Lucy Hamilton. Cricket Australia asked Hamilton to vacate his place in the team as his workload would be managed.

Sana’s participation in “Hundred” is in doubt

After Usman Tariq and Abrar AhmedFatima Sana joined the league as the third player from Pakistan. Tariq will play for Birmingham Phoenix and Ahmed will play for Sunrisers Leeds in the Men’s Hundred League this year.

Phoenix secure the signing of the Pakistan all-rounder for a minimum wage of £15,000. However, her participation in the league will be a concern due to her commitment to the Pakistan national cricket team.

“Sana will earn a minimum salary of £15,000 (approx. PKR 5.6 million) in the Hundred, although his availability may be restricted by Pakistan’s scheduled tour of Sri Lanka (from July 23 to August 4),” an ESPNCricinfo report said.
