British boxing sign says Conor Benn will be knocked out by Ryan Garcia: ‘We’re talking about levels’
The former three-weight world champion told how Ryan GarciaWorld-class pedigree and experience could convince him of a knockout Conor Ben.
The world middleweight champion secured the WBC title in February, dethroning Mario Barrios with a unanimous decision victory following a first-round knockdown.
Conversely, Garcia’s first major title shot resulted in a crushing defeat in the seventh round after Jervonta Davis took a horrific body blow during their 2023 encounter.
“King Rye” then moved up to 140 pounds, but failed to make weight against Devin Haynie, whom he nevertheless defeated in 2024 before testing positive for the banned substance ostarine.
This resulted in his majority victory going unchallenged, and after serving a one-year ban, Garcia was awarded shock defeat to current WBA middleweight champion Rolando Romero.
But despite each of those setbacks, the 27-year-old is now considered one of the top fighters at 147 pounds, making him a heavy favorite against his future opponent.
One of the many who appear to be against him is British boxer Duke McKenzie, who said his YouTube channel that Ben would need a generous amount of luck to have any chance of defeating Garcia.
“I just don’t see him beating Ryan Garcia because we’re talking levels. Conor Benn might get lucky and knock him out … but I don’t see that happening.
“Ryan Garcia is tested, tested, tested … and he has the mental strength to know what it’s like to be a world champion.
“He was knocked off the pedestal and climbed back up the tree – pulled himself together – and became an honest world champion.
“He’s got the pedigree compared to Conor Benn. He’s been an outstanding amateur. I think Garcia will probably get him later in the fight – anywhere after the six-round mark.”
It was finally announced earlier this week Garcia will defend his WBC title against Ben on September 12with the pair clashing at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
