Christine Cavallari remembers giving her father money

Christine Cavallari talked about her dynamic with her father, Dennis Cavallarishe is 20 years old.

Christine, 39, opened up about her finances early in her career during a conversation with the co-founder of Good American Emma Grad during an episode of her The Aspire Podcast.. During the episode, Grad, 43, asked her how she navigated having a bigger bank account than the average 20-year-old, which Christine quickly corrected by sharing that she had loaned her now-estranged father quite a large sum.

“I loaned my father money — I mean hundreds of thousands of dollars in my 20s that I’ll never see,” she claimed. “Is it good? I don’t know. It is what it is. I had to fight it and eventually put it to bed and make peace with it.”

The Hills alum continued, “As a parent now, I can’t imagine asking my kids for money — especially that amount of money and putting it on them. I don’t think I knew how to say no to my dad at the time.” She went on to say that setting boundaries with her father was a “huge life lesson” for her. “I ended up cutting my father out of my life, so I figured out how to say no to him. I had a really hard time when I was younger.”

This is not the first time that Christine has spoken openly about her relationship with her father. In June 2025, she opened up about severing ties with her father after he “crossed the line” with three children Camden, 13, Jackson, 11, and Saylor, 10, whom she shares with her ex-husband Jay Cutler.

“I mean, honestly, and this might sound corny to some people, it’s the best decision I’ve ever made to cut my dad out of my life,” she shared. “Such a burden has been lifted from me.”

Christine continued, “If someone doesn’t bring you joy, if people only bring you pain, sadness and anger, what’s the point? Even if it’s your parents, life is too short.”
