The future of Tom Hardy’s Mobland looks brighter after Season 3’s initial shakeup
Insert your mafia joke here. Let me start: Paramount+ made Tom Hardy an offer he couldn’t refuse.
According to a new report, the British actor is returning to Mobland for Season 3. despite being fired from the show a month ago. Or quit the show. Or just run into the producers of the show. The rumor mill surrounding this has been both chaotic and nebulous, leading to all sorts of conflicting reports in traditional and social media. One thing was clear: the lead actor of Paramount+’s high-profile crime series was either unhappy with something, or the producers were unhappy with him, and his return is far from certain.
Deadline reports that Hardy met with executive producer and showrunner Jez Butterworth and executive producer David Glasser, and the trio buried the hatchet. The report also says that executive producer (and king of crime movies) Guy Ritchie was brought in to help end the showdown by arranging a meeting with all affected parties. Can we imagine them doing this in an Italian restaurant where there is too much space behind the toilet in the toilet? Again, the Godfather jokes are on their own here, but I’ll spare you further.
Writing for Mobland Season 3 has now resumed, and it’s widely believed that Hardy will return alongside Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren, keeping the show’s core cast intact. The second season, which is mostly complete, is expected to premiere in 2026.
Paramount+ has not yet officially released Mobland Season 3
Hardy is notorious for his often difficult behavior on set, which included him making his Star Trek: Nemesis debut for his co-stars. and bumping into just about everyone on the set of Mad Max: Fury Road. But his star power and screen presence are undeniable, and it’s hard to imagine “Mobland” becoming one of Paramount+’s biggest hits without his face in the small title selection window. After all, “Mobland” debuted behind only “Landman” in Paramount+ original shows, proving that raging, male-driven tough guy tales are the streaming service’s bread and butter these days.
Technically, Paramount+ has yet to give Mobland an official greenlight for a third season, which also gives the streamer the ability to do the funniest things. (Which they won’t, because they need original breakout hits more than ever — especially shows that aren’t part of the Taylor Sheridan universe.) Because of this, Mobland Season 3 doesn’t have a schedule yet, and we can only guess whether it’ll be ready for its 2027 debut and that new (old) gem of modern TV: the annual season release.
But that’s a guessing game for another day. All we know now is that something happened to “Mobland” and everyone involved realized there was enough at stake to keep the show as intact as possible. And someone will probably tell the whole truth at a convention someday. And the IMDb trivia section will have an exciting new announcement for the show.
