In the just concluded fifth and final T20I match between India and England, Harry Brook’s team cleanly defeated the No. 1 T20I team to climb to the top of the T20I rankings and occupy the No. 1 spot. Harry Brook’s team completely outplayed the T20 World Cup champions, beating them 4-0 to win the final match by 56 runs.
Shreyas Iyerafter winning the toss, preferred to bat first as the Men in Blue team made two changes, bringing in Sanju Samson and Suryansh Shej in place of Vaibhav Suaryavanshi and Washington Sundar. England made just one change, bringing back Liam Dawson in place of Rehan Ahmed.
Jos Buttler and Harry Brook are making history
After being asked to bat first, England got off to a blistering start but Phil Salt returned early and Prasidh Krishna made the breakthrough; after that, Harry Brook and Jos Buttler went for the slaughter as they brought up fifty in no time. The England skipper brought up his fifty off 19 balls; soon Buttler scored a half-century off 34 balls.
Jos Buttler brought up his hundred off 51 balls as he returned after playing a sensational knock of 131 runs from 64 deliveries, smashing 12 fours and 8 sixes in the match. Brooke finished with 95 runs from 45 deliveries, hitting four boundaries and eight sixes as they posted their highest ever total of 257/3 against India in a T20I.

In the chase, Sanju Samson got off to a flying start but his opening partner Abhishek Sharma couldn’t do much as he returned three runs early. Sanju Samson came back with 27 runs off 14 deliveries and he hit the ball well but failed to convert his start.
Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer then put on a partnership of 55 off 30 deliveries. The Indian captain was not out for 28 runs off 16 deliveries. Kishan lifted his in 27 balls and South were back after 56 runs.

Harry Brook won the series and was also named player of the series for his exceptional performance throughout the series. He was happy with the victory and also said that the team deserves to be celebrated.
Harry Brook said: “We had a lot of fun. Good running, hitting boundaries and complementing each other. We were just trying to get ourselves in the best position. Cricket is a simple game that we make difficult. Just watching the ball and hitting the best shot. I hit the ball well.”
“We got to No. 1 in the world and it was a game after a few games. All the lads are delighted and we deserve to celebrate.”
“You have to create tempo on the ball by hitting shots. We have spinners with nose and we can make the batsmen think. We played a lot of spins and they were exceptional. We have communicated very well over the last 12 months and we have executed tasks very well.’
