Moses Itauma Gives Honest Verdict To Usika Against Deontay Wilder: ‘He’s Not Ready To Leave The Game’

After Usyk decided to vacate his WBC, WBA and IBF world heavyweight titles last monthit has emerged that a fight against former world champion Wilder looks set to be the favorite for the Ukrainian’s next fight, which he described as “his last dance”.
Usyk and Wilder were linked with a back-to-back fight late last year before they went their separate ways, with Wilder claiming a points win Derek Chisoraand Usyk earned a controversial stoppage victory against Rick Verhoeven.
However, it appears that Usyk and Wilder are now on track for their next meeting, but it seems that not everyone is thrilled with the prospect, after fellow heavyweight Itauma said IFL TV that the duel does little for him.
“He doesn’t need to do that. Who the hell is going to want to watch that? To be honest, he’s accomplished more than me, so I can’t say anything. He wants the paper.”
Despite the criticism, Itauma admitted that he understood why Usek decided to do it.
“You have to remember that when Usek was at heavyweight and even in the early stages of fighting at heavyweight, he wasn’t making as much money as he has been making over the last couple of years.
“I don’t watch the pockets or anything, but in the last two or three years of his career, he’s probably made such a huge amount that he’s probably not ready to leave the game. I don’t blame him.”
As for Itauma himself, he will be looking to get one step closer to the world heavyweight title when he takes on Filip Hrgavic at the O2 Arena on August 29.
