Nearly 6,000 pounds of frozen meatloaf recalled due to undeclared soy allergen

A a recall was issued for nearly 6,000 pounds of frozen meatloaf and mashed potatoes over an undeclared soy allergen, according to the Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

North Dakota-based Power Plate Meals, LLC has recalled about 5,795 pounds of its frozen meatloaf with garlic mashed potatoes due to misbranding and an undeclared allergen, FSIS said in a statement last week.

The food product contains soy and the packaging does not indicate that it contains this ingredient.

Affected items – 13.3 oz. vacuum-packed plastic pallets labeled Power Plate Meals Meatloaf with Garlic Mash with use-by dates between June 25, 2026 and June 10, 2027.

The recalled products were manufactured between June 25, 2025 and June 10, 2026.

The affected products were shipped to distributors in Minnesota, North and South Dakota.

The recalled items include the organization number “217SEND” on the USDA inspection mark.

The problem was discovered when a government inspector notified FSIS that the final label did not list soy in the list of ingredients.

FSIS said there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions from consuming these foods.

Anyone concerned about a reaction to the recalled products is encouraged to contact a healthcare professional.

Customers should not consume frozen meals and either throw them away or return them to the store place of purchase.

The frozen food product includes a ground beef meatloaf covered in barbecue sauce and served with mashed potatoes, broccoli and cauliflower.

The recall is classified as a Class II recall, meaning it “involves a health hazard situation where there is a remote possibility of adverse health effects from the use of the product,” according to the FSIS website.
