The Gemini glitch is mostly solved: What went wrong with Google’s AI

Gemini error in the lower left corner of the menu

Gemini bugs finally hit my Gemini.

CNET uses Google Workspace, so this morning I searched my Drive, Docs, and Sheets to see if I was one of the affected customers. Now my time as “marked as safe” is over, so I can tell you what the error looks like.

I first encountered the error when I asked Gemini (via Chrome on my Mac) to parse the contents of a PDF file I downloaded. I had a flash model selected and immediately realized it wasn’t going to be the best model for the task after I hit run. But I didn’t have to wait long to fix the error because Gemini couldn’t run the task at all. It worked for a second or two before returning me to the prompt screen. A 1099 error code popped up in the lower left corner, too fast for me to take a screenshot.

I had to check if it was a fluke. I started a new chat with a seemingly simple Gemini internet search. The same thing happened – he tried to start for a second before stopping almost immediately. This time it returned me to the main page with a different error code shown above.

There is currently no workaround for this issue. Fortunately for me, these are two tasks where I don’t necessarily need a Gemini’s help.
