{"id":2509,"date":"2026-07-12T01:09:09","date_gmt":"2026-07-12T01:09:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/xrpfaucet.site\/?p=2509"},"modified":"2026-07-12T01:09:09","modified_gmt":"2026-07-12T01:09:09","slug":"larry-holmes-says-one-heavyweight-legend-would-have-been-a-nobody-in-his-era-wed-all-beat-him","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/xrpfaucet.site\/?p=2509","title":{"rendered":"Larry Holmes says one heavyweight legend would have been a nobody in his era: &#8216;We&#8217;d all beat him&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-img.boxingnewsonline.net\/uploads\/content\/1783789579414161039\/larry-holmes-boxing.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n                        <!-- Article Start --><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/boxingnewsonline.net\/boxer\/larry-holmes\/\">Larry Holmes<\/a> named a famous heavyweight who he considers several of the all-time greats, including himself, <a href=\"https:\/\/boxingnewsonline.net\/boxer\/muhammad-ali\/\">Muhammad Ali<\/a>Joe Fraser and Ken Norton, would win.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/boxingnewsonline.net\/news\/holmes-on-best-heavyweight-of-all-time\/\">Holmes remained undefeated world champion between 1978 and 1985<\/a>before suffering a surprising and controversial defeat to Michael Spinks.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to this, many suspected that &#8216;The Easton Killer&#8217; was past his prime at 35, but he was nevertheless heavily favored to retain his IBF title against Spinks.<\/p>\n<p>Their immediate rematch resulted in another controversial victory for Spinks, the former light heavyweight king who suffered a first-round knockout of <a href=\"https:\/\/boxingnewsonline.net\/boxer\/mike-tyson\/\">Mike Tyson<\/a> about two years later.<\/p>\n<p>However, just a few months prior, Holmes, who had not wrestled since his rematch with Spinks, attempted to dethrone the ferocious wrecking machine from Brooklyn, New York.<\/p>\n<p>It didn&#8217;t go to plan, of course, as Tyson took a four-round beating and resumed his merciless surge before <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/boxing\/51438071\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">losing to &#8220;Buster&#8221; Douglas in 1990<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>During 1989 <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/CK2hGJvdwx8?si=zCRyvDHD-1-kftzu\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">interview with Bryant Gumble<\/a>However, Holmes insisted that Tyson would not have achieved the same success during his heavyweight era.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"quote-solid\">\n<p>&#8220;Anybody in this room (including Ali, Frazier and Norton) could beat Mike Tyson.
