On the second day of the first innings, while batting for New Zealand, England bowler Joffre hit Blair Tickner straight on the helmet. He was not out for 4 and even came on the field later in the day and bowled three overs before being run out of the match.<\/p>\n

Zach Foulkes is out, Blair Tickner is out<\/h2>\n

Zach Folks, another pacer, joins the squad in place of Tickner. As per MCC rules, teams<\/a> it is allowed to name a substitute for an injured player. So Faulks, who is also a fast bowler, fits the bill. The rule also allows a bench player who joins the team as a concussion replacement to play both bat and ball.<\/p>\n

New Zealand Cricket (NZC) makes an official statement regarding the change to their playing combination.<\/p>\n

“Blair Tickner has been ruled out of the remainder of the third Test against England at Trent Bridge with concussion after being hit on the helmet while batting in the first innings. Zac Faulks has been named as Tickner’s replacement,” the governing body said in an official statement.<\/p>\n

New Zealand and England are trying hard to get the match and the series<\/h2>\n

At the moment, the deciding match at Trent Bridge hangs in the balance as the English batsmen are also doing well in their first innings. In the first innings, New Zealand scored 438 runs for 10 wickets. Most of the runs, they claimed, came through the wicket stand.<\/p>\n

Captain and opener Tom Latham scored 151 runs while Devon Conway, the other half of the opening pair, registered 157 runs. With over two hundred and fifty runs, the visitors secured a partnership of 317 runs for the first wicket.<\/p>\n

Later, after removing both the batsmen, the England bowling team made a brilliant comeback and restricted the opposition team to 438 runs. With the openers setting the tone early in the innings, the Kiwis had a great opportunity to pile on more runs to put more pressure on the England cricket team.<\/p>\n
