Thomas Tuchel was frustrated by Harry Kane’s failure to score a golden opportunity late on England<\/a> played to a goalless draw with Ghana<\/a> tonight.<\/p>\n

Kane, England’s top goalscorer and regarded as one of the best players in the world, headed home with three minutes remaining after Nico O’Reilly’s header hit the post.<\/p>\n

It capped a miserable night for Bayern Munich star Kane, who was one of several attacking players for the England international who struggled to make an impact in Ghana’s defensive set-up.<\/p>\n

The Three Lions had 78.8% possession but hardly troubled Ghana goalkeeper Benjamin Asare until the closing stages.<\/p>\n

Tuchel said of Kane’s chance: “It’s usually an obvious goal for us. It’s a big chance and then another one. It would have been deserved. We knew it was going to be difficult. They defended even more than in the first leg; they defended in a 4-5-1 formation. We found our intensity as the half went on, but we couldn’t get the reward.<\/p>\n

“We defended very well on the counter-attack for most of the match. We have to pay a lot of attention to that. The substitutions were very good.”<\/p>\n

Kane added on BBC Radio 5 Live: “Most of the time I back myself to score (it’s a late chance). One of those, but I’ve lived the life of a striker long enough to know they’re not always going to go in. I back myself nine times out of 10, but I didn’t do it today.<\/p>\n

“We wanted to get a second win today, but it didn’t happen. But overall, we’re in a good position and we’re looking forward to the next one.”<\/p>\n

Rice is focusing on the positives despite England’s disappointment<\/span><\/h2>\n

Despite the draw, England still top Group L<\/a> and will almost certainly go into the knockout stages, with Saturday’s game against Panama still to come.<\/p>\n

And Declan Rice wanted to focus on the positives on a disappointing night in Boston.<\/p>\n

“It’s always difficult when you play against 11 behind the ball as deep as they were, but you have to find solutions. In the last 10 minutes we were unlucky not to score,” said the Arsenal man, who had England’s two best chances in a miserable opening 45 minutes.<\/p>\n

“We still have a great chance to top the group against Panama, so positives all around. They were very compact, in tight spaces to play, but on the other hand we can do more with the ball.”<\/p>\n

Ghana got what they came for as boss Carlos Queiroz set his side up brilliantly. The Black Stars also have four points from two games and look set to join England in promotion.<\/p>\n

Rice added: “You have to give credit to Ghana. It’s tough and they’re good players so it’s never going to be an easy game. We’ve got one more game to go to top the group so we have to be positive.<\/p>\n
