Most teams are just getting back into preseason training over the last few weeks, but there’s already some serious injury news that will affect the rest of the summer.
Reports emerged tonight that Alli Junior Crupi, the Bournemouth sensation who took the Premier League by storm in his debut season, has suffered a fractured metatarsal during the team’s pre-season training camp in Austria.
Kruppi’s injury has a silver lining for Bournemouth’s new era
The forward has already flown home and was operated on. He is expected to stay for three to four months.
It’s terrible news for the Cherries and their new manager Mark Rose, who is struggling to live up to the high standards set by Andoni Iraola. But it also has the nice benefit of stopping transfer speculation around the team’s star player.
In recent weeks, various teams have been linked with the forward – from Tottenham, PSG, Arsenal to Liverpool. His price tag is likely to put most of them off, but as much as Bournemouth insist they don’t want to sell, there is sure to be devastating bidding and rumours.
Kruppi scored 13 goals in 33 Premier League appearances last season and will no doubt be central to Rose’s plans at Vitality. The likes of Evanilson now need to step up in the early stages of the season.
