ZIM vs BAN (WATCH): Ben Curran suffers surprise dismissal in 3rd ODI

A surprising moment caught the eye during the third and final ODI between Zimbabwe and Bangladesh at the Harare Sports Club on Saturday as Zimbabwe’s opener Ben Curran suffered one of the most unlucky sacks of the series. The left-hander looked set to endure a testing spell in the Bangladesh attack before an unfortunate twist of fate brought his innings to a halt, leaving the players and fans in a daze.

Ben Curran’s surprising dismissal stunned everyone

The incident occurred in the sixth over of Zimbabwe’s innings when the Bangladesh pacer Dear Islam bowled a short delivery on the stumps. Curran tried to protect the ball with soft hands, seemingly managing to keep it out safely.

However, the ball trickled off the inside edge and slowly rolled back towards the stumps. Although Curran turned quickly in an attempt to stop it with the bat, he was unable to stop the ball from moving the bails, leading to a surprising dismissal. Shoriful was rewarded with a wicket while Curran had to retire after conceding just two runs from 13 deliveries.

Zimbabwe posted 199 after electing to bat

Earlier in the day, the Bangladesh team won the toss and fielded first. Zimbabwe were eventually bowled out for 199 in 48.1 overs despite a fighting effort from the middle order. Wesley Madhevere anchored the innings with a well-made 75 off 74 balls, hitting five fours and a six, while Brad Evans provided the late momentum with an aggressive 50 off just 43 deliveries, including five boundaries and two sixes.

For Bangladesh, Shoriful was a standout performer with the ball, finishing with impressive figures of 4/44. Taskin Ahmed and Tanvir Islam took two wickets each to help restrict the hosts below the 200-run mark. Having already secured the series with wins in the first two ODIs, Zimbabwe went into the contest aiming to complete a memorable 3-0 on home soil. Bangladesh, meanwhile, looked to salvage their honor by avoiding a clean sweep in the final match of the series.
