Rumors are around KATSEYE have reached a fever pitch as group member Manon’s mysterious absence stretches into a fourth month with no clear timetable for her return.
While the global girl group continues to break records as a five-piece, fresh insider claims suggest that the behind-the-scenes dynamic may have changed more than fans thought.
Amid mysterious social media activity, conflicting explanations for her hiatus, and growing speculation about her future, questions about whether or not Manon will ever rejoin KATSEYE are only getting louder.
When KATSEYE announced their upcoming world tour last month, fans immediately noticed one glaring omission. There were only five contestants in the promotional picture, and Manon was nowhere to be seen.
The absence marked another chapter in what has been a four-month hiatus for the Swiss-born singer, who left earlier this year for what the band described as her “health and well-being”.
At the time, many fans believed it would be a short break, especially after the 23-year-old posted an emotional tribute on Instagram in December, saying she was still in “disbelief” that the members were making their dreams come true together before signing on with ‘Kats forever’.
Instead, she missed out on headlining appearances at Coachella and the Governor’s Ball, and her absence from promotional material for KATSEYE’s sold-out Wildworld tour only added to the concern.
According to A Daily Mail insider, the situation developed significantly off-screen. “What was and was initially described as a temporary hiatus is increasingly starting to feel like something much bigger,” the source said.
KATSEYE supposedly found a new rhythm without Manon
Behind the scenes, insiders claim that the group’s internal dynamic changed long before fans realized something was wrong.
According to one source, some members felt that Manon “wasn’t trying as hard as everyone else.” Whether those feelings were justified or not, the insider said they caused growing tension within the group.
The hiatus was reportedly intended to “give everyone a break” and restore the group’s vibe. Instead, the source claims the opposite happened.
“They’re back on track, the chemistry has improved, and they’re more comfortable working as they are now. Now, there doesn’t seem to be much urgency or interest in bringing Manon back into the fold,” the insider explained.
Ironically, KATSEYE’s greatest commercial success was achieved during Manon’s absence. The members received Grammy nominations for Best New Artist and Best Pop Performance by a Duo/Group earlier this year before performing “Gnarly” during the ceremony.
Since then, the five remaining contestants, Daniela Avanzini, Sofia Laforteza, Lara Raj, Megan Skiendil and Yunche Jeong, have continued to break records.
They delivered one of Coachella’s most popular performances, won three American Music Awards and saw “Pinky Up” become their first release without Manon.
The momentum continues with the release of the “Wild” EP on August 14th and a scheduled performance at Olivia Rodrigo’s Daisy Chain Fields Festival.
Although the label maintains that Manon is not on the mend, her own online activity has fueled even more speculation.
She recently liked an Instagram post from commenter Simply Simone, who claimed the singer had been subjected to “disgusting hate” because of her skin color and also discussed racism faced by black members of mixed-race girl groups.
Another Instagram upload quickly became the talk of the town after Manon posted a photo of her friend holding her little finger in the air while traveling on a plane.
Some fans immediately linked the gesture to KATSEYE’s latest single. “You’re not trying to shade Catsy with that little finger,” one follower commented.
The confusion only deepened after she personally expressed her health concerns on WeVerse. “I want you to hear this from me, I’m healthy, I’m fine and I’m taking care of myself,” she wrote.
She added: “Thank you for checking in! Sometimes things unfold in ways that we don’t fully control, but I trust the bigger picture. Thank you for supporting me. I love you so much and can’t wait to see you again.”
Meanwhile, fans have noticed that she has quietly deleted KATSEYE from her Instagram bio, sparking another wave of rumors that she may be preparing to leave for good.
KATSEYE continues to represent the United Front as questions remain
Publicly, the remaining members continued to emphasize unity. During a recent visit to Australia, the five singers shared photos from a trip to the zoo, cuddling with stuffed koalas.
A few days later, fan videos showed them enjoying Ariana Grande’s Eternal Sunshine concert together in Los Angeles.
However, the appearance did little to calm speculation after it emerged that Manon attended the same concert separately with friends, including musician The Kid LAROI.
Still, when asked about her during an April appearance on “The Zane Lowe Show“, – the participants warmly responded about their absent groupmate.
“In the end, we just want each other to win. And to be good,” said Laforteza. Lara Raj echoed those sentiments, adding, “I think we also want to say that she’s our sister forever… So we just want to give her all the space and love that she needs right now.”
KATSEYE’s sources disagree on whether Manon is truly finished
While one insider believes the group has largely agreed to move forward without Manon, another sees things differently.
“They’re going to have to sort it out soon and before they go on tour,” one source said, adding: “They all need to move forward for the good of all of them and their fans.”
Another insider insisted that Manon “doesn’t want to leave the band” and remains disappointed with how Netflix’s Popstar Academy: KATSEYE portrayed her journey.
Unlike several of her co-stars, Manon entered the competition with modeling experience rather than formal singing or dancing experience.
Throughout the series, she was often shown in the final ratings and criticized for allegedly missing rehearsals.
Despite this image, a source close to the singer claims that she remains “the contestant most in touch with what the audience wants because of her influence experience.”
According to the insider, she just “took a break to figure out what she wants to do next.” Despite this, another source believes that the current direction of the group is becoming more apparent.
“All the girls understand that groups like this rarely last forever. Eventually, everyone starts thinking about solo projects and what’s next,” the insider said.
