Chloe Bailey talks about her musical journey over the past few years, given her two studio albums, ‘In Pieces’ and ‘Trouble in Paradise’. Most recently, she released a mixtape with Timbaland called “Resurrection.” In a new interview, the Chloe x Halle singer says her work in other professional fields, like acting, has helped her become a better musician.
Talking to ExtraKhloe opened up about her new film Strung, which premiered at the Peacock, and said her new roles in front of the camera have made her a better artist and “storyteller.”
“You have to be raw and vulnerable and you have to let your guard down. And with music, it’s all about performing, showing off. And that’s what I’ve always been used to. So now my next goal is to (tell the story) better. But I feel like acting gets me there more and more because you’re telling someone else’s story that has nothing to do with you. And there’s beauty in being raw,” she said.
Khloe Bailey reflects on releasing a mixtape with Timbaland on June 1st
Over the years Bailey has released music with her sister, Halle Baileyand of course released two solo albums under BeyonceParkwood label. Her latest effort, Resurrection, is a 13-track mixtape full of alternative R&B hits.
Of the project, released on June 1, Khloe said it was meant to be a celebratory moment for her and her fans.
“I did this mixtape with Timberland… and we’re releasing it on June 1st! It’s a celebration of the beauty of our community and our strength that we hold in our skin, but also that he was such a prominent figure in the music industry,” she said. “And I was so inspired by him and Missy Elliott. Like I’ve never been shy about calling them the producers that I am.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Khloe reflected on how she and Timbaland managed to complete the project in just two months.
“He’s amazing. His ear is impeccable. And what I also learned from him is that it’s okay to strip things down sometimes,” she said. “Sometimes, just a demo vocal, when I’m writing a song that I send back, he’ll fall in love with it. And there’s been a few times where I’ve redone the vocals and added a bunch of layers, and he’s like, ‘No, no, no, no.’ Return to the original. That’s where the heartbeat was”… and then some recordings that he let me put in so that my harmonies were in their full glory. But it was really nice to learn to capture different textures that way.”

“Resurrection” is just the beginning of what lies ahead for Chloe. In 2024, she spoke with PEOPLE about her upcoming projects and asked fans to sit tight because “there’s going to be some interesting stuff.”
“I was more inspired than ever,” she said, teasing that she was in her “producer bag pretty deep.”
The singer-songwriter also said she’s learning to relax a little more after taking life so seriously after becoming famous.
“I feel like at a young age, I took life so seriously and now I really want to focus on my happiness while working hard to achieve my goals,” she said.
Khloe is speaking out in support of sister Holly
While fans are still waiting for a new album with her sister Khali, Khloe said she will always be in her corner. Most recently, she was spotted at the premiere of Holly’s feature film, You, Me and Toscana, and said she couldn’t be prouder of her younger sister and all of her accomplishments.
“My sister and I started doing everything together, so we’re a security blanket for each other,” Khloe said. Explosion. “I was so happy to be there at the Los Angeles screening to support her for her incredible rom-com.”
According to Khloe, she enjoys cheering on her sister as much as working with her on new projects.
“… when we get together, it makes it that much more special,” she said.
