English star If Butler praised India’s newest teenage sensation Vaibhav Suoryavanshi in front of the white ball series between two parties. The former England captain believes the cricket world is about to witness something special.

The 15-year-old sensation recently received his maiden call-up to the Indian squad for the upcoming T20I series in Ireland later this month, followed by the tour of England in July. If he plays in any of these series, Vaibhav will become the youngest cricketer ever to represent India at the international level. He has already received support from India’s Olympic T20 team

Jos Buttler backs Vaibhav Suaryawanshi for historic India call-up

After Greg Chappell’s stunning verdict on Vaibhava SuaryavanshiJos Buttler emphasized that the left-hander fully deserves his place in the Indian team after his incredible performances for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2026. He also spoke about how the Indian selection has become extremely competitive, with even big names missing out due to the rise of Vaibhav Suoryavanshi.

Jos Buttler said on his For the Love of Cricket YouTube podcast: “15-year-old Vaibhav Suoryawanshi got a deserved call-up in an incredibly strong Indian team. So strong that they dropped their World Cup-winning captain. He was a serious, serious player.

And although his form was not at the same level as before, the next World Cup is in 2028, so they wanted to change that. They picked Shreyas Iyer who won it with KKR and then made a good impact with Punjab Kings.”

He added: “Most of all, his numbers with the bat were brilliant. Vaibhav is already incredibly well known. He was the MVP of the tournament, scoring over 700 runs at a strike rate above 200. Any player who puts up those numbers will be picked. He absolutely deserves his place.”

Buttler reveals Sachin Tendulkar vs Vaibhav Suryavanshi debate with Gujarat Titans coach during IPL 2026

Buttler also recalled a conversation he had with his Gujarat Titans coach Ashish Kapoor during IPL 2026 when they discussed the “hype” surrounding Vaibhav and how much the teenage sensation had become even before he made his debut for India.

The former England captain said: “I asked him how it compares to Sachin because he’s from that generation and grew up watching him.” To this, Kapoor explained that everyone has watched Vaibhav bat and seen what he has done in the biggest T20 tournament in the world, so he is already so famous and that is the real difference, thanks to social media.

How Sachin became a legend without internet fame

But during Sachin Tendulkar’s time, there was no social media or YouTube, so people mostly read about him in newspapers or heard stories from others. And the Gujarat Titans assistant coach said that because of this, there wasn’t much buzz around Tendulkar when he took to the stage.

Buttler added: “When Sachin came through, people read about him in the papers. It was all whispers and stories about this extraordinary talent that you just had to watch. Unless you were at the ground or happened to catch him live on TV, you didn’t really see him. There were no highlight packages, no social media and none of the players were exposed today.”
