After months of uncertainty, Jervonta Davis appears to be inching closer to a return to the ring.
Davis has not fought since his controversial draw with Lamont Roach Jr. in March 2025, a result that many believed should have gone against him after Roach was denied a knockdown.

After being declared the “interim champion” earlier this year, the WBA officially ordered “Tank” to defend his world lightweight title against mandatory challenger Floyd Schofield on May 23, giving both camps until June 22 to reach an agreement before the bids are announced.
Although some believed that Davis would vacate the belt, either not ready to return, or look for a more famous namenegotiations are reportedly ongoing. The latest information was announced by Schofield’s promoter Oscar De La Hoya Fight Hub TV that he expects significant progress this week.
“Tom Browne (of TGB) and Eric Gomez of Golden Boy are in talks and we are awaiting an offer which should happen in the next few days.
“This is the fight that Floyd always wanted. It’s a fight that I think Tank Davis will be very motivated to do. It’s a great fight. People have seen Floyd fight, he’s done really well and surprised a lot of people. It’s a natural fit for him next. The fact that the WBA has ordered this fight and we can get it done very quickly is music to my ears. It’s one of those fights that the fans are really going to fall in love with.”
Schofield has become one of the premier young lightweights in the sport. The undefeated 23-year-old known as “Little Austin” has a record of 19-0 with 13 knockouts and most recently stopped former world champion Tevin Farmer in a round.
He was due to challenge Shakur Stevenson for a world title last year before illness forced him to withdraw during fight week, but has since climbed to the top of the WBA rankings and is now on the verge of the biggest opportunity of his career.
